In the next video of our Neurovox series, we feature Kip Ludwig, PhD, Associate Director, Mayo Neural Engineering Laboratories. Kip runs a research lab in bioelectronic medicines which are small, wireless implantable devices to interface with the nervous system to manipulate organ function. These devices have proved instrumental in improving conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease.
Kip has an extensive history working to develop neuromodulation and translational technologies. He was the Program Director for Neural Engineering at the NIH, where he lead the SPARC program to develop neuromodulators for nerve-organ interactions, and ultimately advance the neuromodulation field toward precise treatment of diseases and conditions. He also lead many of the initiatives in the BRAIN Initiative to advance neurotechnologies to better understand the brain. In this compelling interview, he gives his perspective on the future of neuromodulation and current challenges to translational research.
