The Funding Opportunity:

The BRAIN Initiative’s RO1 funding opportunity (Deadline: March 8, 2017) entitled “Targeted BRAIN Circuits Projects, solicits applications for research projects using integrated approaches to “understand how circuit activity gives rise to mental experience and behavior.” Submitted proposals should aim to improve the understanding of neural circuits by, “systematically controlling stimuli and/or behavior while actively recording and/or manipulating dynamic patterns of neural activity.”

nVoke Technology:

Inscopix’s new nVoke miniature microscope technology directly enables the aforementioned goals of this BRAIN funding opportunity. nVoke is an “All-Optical” system for integrating optogenetics with cellular resolution calcium imaging during awake and active mouse behavior. It empowers researchers to conduct unprecedented experimentation for functional cell-type and connectivity mapping, and neural circuit dynamics and coding.

nVoke has been thoroughly tested for specific applications through slice and in vivo validation studies by our scientists at the Inscopix Labs and by neuroscientists at leading institutions. You can read nVoke case studies from Kay Tye (MIT), Alice Stamatakis (Inscopix), Vikaas Sohal (UCSF), and Anatol Kreitzer (UCSF) here.

How We Can Help:

If you are interested in applying to the BRAIN Initiative RFA-NS-17-014 to acquire nVoke, please email the Inscopix Grants Assistance Program at [email protected] by January 20th, 2017 (Subject: RFA-NS-17-014; Body: Name, Lab/Institution, Contact Info).

Our scientists will contact you to discuss:

  • The fit of nVoke technology for your proposed aims.
  • Ways to facilitate submission for the March 8, 2017 deadline (e.g. nVoke specific content including diagrams and materials and methods.)
  • Providing letters of support.

We look forward to hearing from you. Go Team Science!

If you are ready to acquire nVoke for your research today, please fill out the nVoke Early Access Program form, here.
